Episode Summary: In this heartfelt episode of The Pain Therapist Podcast, I share a powerful lesson I recently learned from my 5-year-old daughter, one that beautifully illustrates the concept of acceptance. While I was complaining about the rain, she reminded me with such simplicity: “It’s only rain, Mummy. The flowers and plants need rain, and we can just put our coats on.” Her innocent wisdom struck me and got me thinking about how acceptance is a crucial part of the chronic pain journey.
Acceptance doesn’t mean liking or approving of what’s happening—it means acknowledging that some things are out of our control, like the weather or our chronic pain. But what is within our control is how we choose to respond. Much like we can’t change the rain, we can’t always change our pain, but we can change our mindset and how we approach each day.
In this episode, I explore how embracing acceptance can help you find more peace on your chronic pain journey, just as we accept the weather for what it is. It’s about recognising that resistance only creates more suffering, while acceptance allows us to adapt and move forward with more grace and less stress.
